Team Administrator, Southeast Asia

Background

My love and indecisiveness for geography and social work led me to study both subjects in school. While they appeared to be a mismatched combination, their complementary scalar and systemic perspectives imbued within me a deep appreciation of how societal and environmental issues are intertwined. I was inspired to involve myself in systems to address unmet needs, bridge gaps and eventually empower others in doing so.

Prior to joining Forum, I was a social service professional specialising in systemic school social work. Through stakeholder management, facilitation and designing strengths-based programmes, my team and I built up youths’ developmental potential and strengthened their community of support. Experiencing such constantly dynamic and diverse environments sharpened my adeptness in balancing empathy and critical thinking while problem solving. I’ve learnt that shifts and changes are most often sustained with committed collaborations, intentional processes and a resilient heart to embrace the journey.

In my role, I strive to provide effective operational support that facilitates Forum’s Southeast Asia team in thriving and doing their best work for the environment.

My dream project

My dream project would seek to maximise the potential of effective public-private-people partnerships in tackling issues such as climate justice and social access. It would be most meaningful to be part of a team that supports and empowers communities in taking action towards positive change.

What floats my boat outside work?

I enjoy challenging the limits of my mind and body and recently dabbled in endurance running, climbing, hiking and yoga. Moving my body brings me peace and importantly allows me to indulge in good food and coffee after!
